Bloomsburg Track Competes in Bison Outdoor Classic

LEWISBURG - The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track teams competed in the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell University yesterday.

In the men's 10,000 meter run, Justin Shepherd (Cranberry Twp. /Seneca Valley) placed third in a field of 41 runners. His 31:00.31 qualifies him for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships. Mikhail Litvinov (Drums/Hazleton) placed 19th in the same event, running a 32:33.98.

Also for the men's team, Jim Stokley (Elverson/Twin Valley) placed 18th in the steeplechase in a time of 10:00.30.

For the women, Mary Bacher (New Tripoli/Central Catholic) finished the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 11:35.80, good for seventh place.

Also at Bucknell, Toni Zangari (Sunbury/Shikellamy) took 15th in the 10,000 meter event in a time of 39:26.61 while in the 5,000 meter run, Beth Schwing (Hershey (Lower Dauphin) took 24th place in 18:11.68.

In Saturday's action, Connie Raineri (Gilbertville/Saint Pius X) lead the Huskies with three top-fifteen finishes. She took fifth place (59.37) 400 meter dash , 11th place (26.32) in the 200 meter dash and 15th place (17' 2.25") in the long jump.

For the men, Dave Sanford took 17th place in the 800 meter run in a time of 1:56.68.

The Huskies will race on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in East Stroudsburg.
